Our 4th Container on its Way!

It was a warm night, thanks to the volunteers who helped "shove" all of the bikes into the container!  Thanks to many local businesses and organizations who made this happen- special mention to Van Isle Containers and R & B Trucking who made the logistics happen.

This container is off to Uganda.  Here is a link to a report we received today from Uganda:

The Anenober Bicycle Shop in Abim Uganda runs as smooth (smoother?) as your local bike shop here in Canada.

A happy recipient receiving a "sport" bike.  They work so much better than the Indian bikes widely used in Africa.

The Moroto bike shop is up and running!

Its a GO!

Hey everyone.  Its been a good spring in the bike collection department- We have received some good exposure from the Times-Colonist and also have an article in the latest newsletter from the Greater Victoria Cycling Coalition.
Thanks to some great corporate help from local companies like R&B Trucking and Van Isle Containers we are poised to load the 4th shipment from the Victoria Chapter.  Please support local business!
We have 500 bikes compacted and ready to be consigned to a trusted partner in Uganda. The loading event will be on the evening of Tuesday June 4th in Central Saanich.  We hope to be in full swing by 6pm and wrapped up by dark.  Drop us a line if you can help and we will fill in the details.

April Bike Collection! Lets Rock!

Well- its April.  Classic time for spring cleaning.  With your help we hope to repeat the above image another 450 times in Africa this spring.

Here is the challenge- if we can get another 75 bikes collected THIS MONTH, we can make a push on getting the next container loaded during the first week of may.  Up for it?  Share this link around and lets shake some bikes out of basements and sheds and empower people!

Here is a link to a flickr photo album where we are starting to collect some images.......

Thanks again for you support!

2013!

Bike count to start the year: 250 bikes on hand. (Empowerment for 250 families)
200 more needed in order to ship this spring. We are feeling pretty positive!

Took the 30 bikes that Lisa collected in December out to the staging area today. Here is a shot........

Success

The bike collection on Saturday December 1st (World Aids Day) was a success.  Lisa and her team collected 30 bikes and they are in the process of packing them for shipping.  Thankyou!

Here is a photo that caught my eye. Pulled it off of Level Ground Trading Website.  These wooden bikes used to be quite common in Rwanda but have all but disappeared there with the influx of foreign aid.  (or so I am told)  Many businesses and NGO's find operating in the Congo challenging- and as such we can witness a huge need for help.

Level Ground has secured some Congolese coffee- which I am told is very good.  Try some and support small holder farmers in the Congo.
Anyone care to launch a B4H venture into the Congo?
